Smoothies make the world go round

smoothie_psI love smoothies. I love to mix things most people would never put in smoothies into smoothies and let someone try it before gleefully shouting that they just drank kale or spinach or chia seeds or kefir. Yes, I’m a little bit evil. But I’m also concerned about everyone getting proper nutrition, so I think it’s a wash.

Here are a few of my favorite homemade smoothie recipies:

Kale & Fruit Smoothie
1 banana
1 handful fresh kale leaves (spinach is also fantastic, I use them interchangeably)
1 cup frozen fruit, such as pineapple, mango, peaches, or a mixture
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon flax seeds
1/2 teaspoon Maca powder
1 squirt of raw, local honey
Almond milk (enough to cover about half the contents of the blender)

Chocolate & Spinach Smoothie
1 banana
1 handful fresh spinach leaves
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 teaspoon flax seeds
1 squirt raw, local honey
Chocolate milk (enough to cover half the contents in the blender)

Blend, enjoy, and be healthy!
